Goldcar, the tourist markets' leading car hire company, continues its plan to expand by investing 60 million euros, opening 7 new offices and creating more than one hundred jobs.

The Goldcar Rental group has attained a new record by increasing the number of contracts attended in 2012 by 20% compared to 2011.

The growth experienced was an endorsement for Goldcar’s plan for expansion, which has materialised in the opening of 7 new offices in 2012. Goldcar is already present in every major destination in the centre and north of Spain. New offices have been opened in Portugal; one in Lisbon airport and another in Porto. The company has also branched out into the Italian market by opening offices in the airports in Pisa and Bologna.

Juan Alcaraz, Goldcar’s CEO, has said, “We are very pleased with the achievements attained in 2012, in a period of deep economic uncertainty. The decision to expand our business model and offer the best and newest cars at the best prices has proved to be an unbeatable formula“.

The plan for expansion undertaken by Goldcar in recent years led to an investment of 60 million euros in 2012 to open new offices and expand the offering in existing offices. This growth has created more than 100 direct jobs and at least 300 indirect jobs.

Goldcar reaches an agreement with Via Verde to make toll payments easier on new Portuguese roads

The Portuguese government has changed the way it manages the use of some of the main roads in the country.

Some motorways that were previously free have lost that feature as the government now charge for their use. These motorways only have overhead gantry systems, (as shown in the photograph) and they will not have toll booths or machines where you can pay as you go.

Goldcar has reached an agreement with Via Verde -the company in charge of collecting these fees- to install ‘Electronic Devices’ for automatic payment in all our fleet.

Thanks to these devices, tolls will be automatically charged to the credit card of our customers who want to enjoy this option, 15 days after the car hire contract is finished.

This way they can avoid the hassle of paying in person in a post office or ‘Payshop’ the next day –or up to 5 days after using the toll- and of course they can avoid being fined for not paying the fees due.

Portuguese law set a price of €1,5/day for the renting of this ‘Electronic Device’ and that’s the amount Goldcar will charge.

Goldcar opened their new office in Lisbon yesterday

Goldcar Rental opened an office in Lisbon airport yesterday. The new office, located in Terminal 1, opens for travellers to the biggest airport in Portugal. The new establishment is the third office opened in Portugal by Spain’s leading rent a car company.

The company’s expansion in Europe started in May 2011 with the opening of the first offices in Faro (in the Portuguese Algarve region). It is completed this year with new offices in Italy – at the Bologna and Pisa airports – and with the one in the vicinity of the Oporto airport, in Portugal.

The opening of the Lisbon facilities meant an investment of 2 million euros (including an important sum for purchasing the car rental fleet) and will create fourteen direct jobs and around thirty-five indirect jobs.

Goldcar opens its new offices in Madrid, Santander and Santiago de Compostela

Goldcar Rental opened three new offices last week near the airports of Madrid-Barajas, Santander and Santiago de Compostela-Lavacolla. The opening of these new offices has helped consolidate the company’s plan to expand the business, having already opened their second office in Portugal, near Oporto airport, along with their first two offices in Italy, in the airports of Pisa and Bologna, all within the space of the first five months of the year.

Getting the facilities in Madrid, Santander and Santiago up and running has re-quired a joint investment of over 13 million euros, (including the purchase of the fleet of rental vehicles) and will lead to the creation of some twenty direct jobs and around sixty indirect jobs.

Thanks to these new offices, Goldcar now has 34 outlets throughout Spain and in three more countries. The company’s decision to focus on markets in the northern part of the country, (together with the office in Bilbao, which opened in June 2011, there are now three offices in the area) also reflects the growing importance of tourist markets that offer an alternative to traditional ones.

A similar phenomenon is also at work in Madrid, whose airport has seen a huge increase in recent years in the presence of low-cost airlines that usually operate out of regional airports.

Goldcar opened their fourth international office in Oporto yesterday

Goldcar Rental opened an office in the Portuguese city of Oporto yesterday. The new establishment is the fourth international branch opened by the leading rent a car company in Spain. The company’s expansion in Europe started in May 2011 with the opening of the first offices in Faro (in the Portuguese Algarve region). It is completed this month with the new offices in Italy –Bologna and Pisa – and with the one in Oporto, Portugal, that is operating since yesterday.

Goldcar Rental has invested 1.5 million euros in the Oporto facilities, which will create ten direct jobs and around thirty indirect jobs.

Goldcar Rental is carrying out all the necessary procedures to open their third of-fice in Portugal in the coming weeks. The company’s plan for expansion also calls for the opening of new Goldcar facilities in Madrid and Santiago de Compostela in the first six months of 2012.

The opening of the Oporto office brings the number of Goldcar offices to 31. The offices at the airport in Faro meet the increasing customer demand all through the Algarve region, one of the preferred holiday destinations of thousands of Europeans. Oporto is the second most important city in the country, and the branch there will be of the greatest importance for visitors to the Douro valley and northern Portugal.

Goldcar opens their first two offices in Italy

The company continues their international expansion which started last year with the opening of an office in Faro (Portugal).

Goldcar Rental, leader in the rent a car business for tourists, opens their first two offices in Italy. The company’s presence in Italy, the fifth most visited country in the world, strengthens Goldcar’s aim of securing a segment of a strategic market for the company: Tourism. Goldcar is already the leading company in the market in Spain.

The chosen destinations are the cities of Pisa and Bologna, their airports, to be precise. As of this week, travellers to those airports will find a Goldcar at the Guglielmo Marconi airport in Bologna, and a second office at the Galileo Galilei airport in Pisa a few days later.

The opening of the new facilities has allowed twenty direct jobs and at least fifty indirect jobs to be created. Goldcar has invested more than 16 million euros to that end.

Goldcar Rental’s activity increased by 21% in 2011, consolidating their position as the leading rent a car in the Spanish tourist sector

Last year the company invested more than 100 million in their expansion and created one hundred direct jobs.

The Goldcar Rental group strengthened their position as the leading rent a car company in the Spanish tourist sectors thanks to 609,000 contracts attained in 2011. In an advance of last year’s results, the company confirmed that vehicle rentals increased 21% last year, compared to the figure attained in 2010, when 500,000 operations were concluded.

Last year the company grew 50% more than the forecast made at the beginning of the year, exceeding the most optimistic estimates. Juan Alcaraz, Goldcar’s executive vice-president, said that “these highly significant figures show right our expansion policy was when we opened new offices in Barcelona, Ibiza, Menorca, Bilbao and Faro (Portugal) in 2011. All these offices performed much better than expected”.

Goldcar’s expansion policy has led the company to invest more than 100 million euros in opening new offices last year. This growth has created more than 100 direct jobs, to which a further 250 indirect jobs must be added.

Spectacular growth in the Canary Islands

Attention should be drawn to the excellent results achieved by the Goldcar Rental offices in the Canary Islands, where the total number of contracts grew by 50% compared to 2010. This datum reflects good times for the tourist sector in the Canary Islands, which saw a considerable increase in the number of vsitors. Fernando Villar, Goldcar’s managing director, confirms that “at some of our offices in the Canary Islands, notably in Fuerteventura and Tenerife Norte, we have seen three-digit growth and even higher. The results of the offices in Tenerife Sur, Las Palmas and Lanzarote have also show excellent performance with much more impressive growth figures than we estimated at the beginning of the year”.

As part of our continuing efforts to improve our customer services in Portugal, from January 1st there is a new Road Assistance telephone number: 707 50 19 90. If calling from outside Portugal you will need to add the country code: +351.

Please note that this number should only be used by our customers who rent a car from the Goldcar office in Faro, or any other office Goldcar may have in Portugal in the future.

If you rent a car in any of the Goldcar offices in Spain the Road Assistance number is still 902 10 52 76. You need to add +34 if calling from outside Spain.

There is also a new number to contact our reservations services in Portugal: 707 50 40 70. In Spain there is no change and you can still contact us calling 902 119 726 (+34 965 943 186 if calling from outside Spain).

Goldcar Rental Closes the First Half of 2011 with 15% More Rent-a-Car Operations

Goldcar Rental has submitted its balance sheet for operations in the first half of 2011. The leading rent-a-car company succeeded in attaining 260,000 vehicle hire contracts during that period. That figure is 15% higher than figure for the first half of 2010, when 227,971 operations were made. This year’s growth exceeds the company’s expectations, and is already 50% higher than the estimates made at the beginning of the financial year.

Operations on the Canary Islands, where the total number of Goldcar Rental customers nearly doubled, are particularly worthy of mention. Vehicle reservations at the new offices opened in Barcelona, Ibiza and Menorca surpassed all forecasts, making a significant contribution to the increase.

Goldcar Rental opens a new office in Bilbao tomorrow

Goldcar Rental Group, Spain’s leading rent-a-car company, opens a new office in the city of Bilbao on Saturday, June 18th. An investment of 1.5 million euros went into setting up the new office and buying new cars. The initial fleet of 100 vehicles will soon be doubled to meet customer demand. The new office is run by a team of five car rental experts. Goldcar Rental has also created fifteen indirect jobs at their offices near the Bilbao airport.

The Bilbao office opens to meet customers’ important demand and it is the first Goldcar Rental opens in the Basque Country. Bilbao is considered one of the travel destinations most sought-after by European citizens.
